Brixton Sessions

‘Chasing Ambulances’

‘The Back Lash’

Octoberman are great. They did a couple songs for us in a little park, well it was more a patch of grass near a council estate than a ‘park’, but for now it can be a park. The Canadian group, stripped down to two for the sessions, Marc Morisette and Tavo, who originally from Vancouver, are now Toronto based. Marc’s lyrics tell stories of his experiences journeying the world and of observations of the people he meets on the way. His love of traveling can be highlighted by the extensive nature of the UK tour, taking in some locations often missed out by touring bands. This included a trip down to Barnstaple, up to Halifax and east to Norwich as well as the usual London circuit joints. There is no doubt that the band have been winning over audiences and delighting fans where ever they play.

Their first album ‘These Trails Are Old and New’ received rave reviews described as ‘beautiful bedroom pop’ or as Calgary’s See Magazine put it ‘like a magic radio with a dial permanently stuck on a revelatory moment’. Their latest offering to the world ‘FORTRESSES’, their fourth release and third full-length ‘FORTRESSES’ was released earlier in the year (Canada / US) and throughout Europe last month. Recorded and produced by Larry Crane (Stephen Malkmus, Elliott Smith) and Dave Draves (Julie Doiron, Kathleen Edwards) it promises to be their most exciting release to date. Brixton Sessions is excited to be posting a live performance of one of the tracks from the forthcoming release entitled ‘The Backlash’.
