Brixton Sessions

‘Untitled’

The New Zealand showcase that passed through the Windmill threw up some true delights, one of which was the one-man-band Bond Street Bridge, aka Sam Prebble.

As the rain spat heavily on the canvas covering the garden benches, Sam knocked out a newly penned song, written on the road through Europe. It’s always nice when Brixton Sessions can premiere some new material, and hope the powerful lyrics leave an impression.

Originally a classically trained violinist, Prebble has moved into self-production and acoustic instruments, combining the two on his debut album. The Mapmakers Art is a collection of tracks recorded almost entirely by Prebble. Using the name Bond Street Bridge in order to dis-associate himself from the cliches attached to the one-man band album or singer song writer he need not be worried as the album of laptop beats, acoustic instruments and electronic glitches, stands on it’s own two feet.

If you weren’t fortunate enough to catch Bond Street Bridge this time round then pick up a copy of Sam’s album The Mapmakers Art whenever you can.
